The Ponies of Brockenhurst
August 11th, 2009 by Caroline
I’m looking for an apartment in Brockenhurst, but in the meantime, I’m staying at one of the Brockenhurst Hotels which is quiet nice and accommodating. I wanted to find an apartment that would be next to The New Forest, but I think I found an interesting and affordable apartment in Lymington which isn’t too far away. I fell in love with the Village of Brockenhurst the moment I got here. It’s hard to explain just how at home I feel here, maybe it’s the fond memories of when my folks took me here as a child to play with the ponies of the forest.
The apartment is on the first floor of a semi detached three storey building. It sits back from the road and it’s behind tow parkings spaces. Walking distance from the train station, just a few minutes from the Lymington Marina. The most important part about the apartment is it’s only 4 miles from The New Forest and the village of Brockenhurst! The New Forest is so beautiful, I want to know that I can easily walk or bike to it everyday. It offers miles and miles of open forest, heathland and footpaths. I can ride my bike there and then hire a pony to ride through the forest.
I wasn’t sure, though, if I wanted to live in Lymington. It does seem a bit more busier that Brockenhurst. It has an international yachting center. Tourist are constantly coming and going with all the shopping and tours of the Georgian town center. Others come to use the car ferry which leaves for the Isle of Wright. But, Lymington does have lovely beaches all along the coast and there’s a easy coastal path running from Lymington to Christchurch and on through to Hurst Castle, a 16th Century fort which King Henry VIII built.
The apartment is affordable and I can’t find any here in Brockenhurst, well one’s I can afford anyway. So, I think I’ll check out and see if Lymington will suit me just fine.
