Make Sure You Have Adequate Visitors Insurance

December 18th, 2010 by Caroline

If you’re planning to go overseas anytime in the near future you need to spend some time investigating visitors insurance . Don’t even consider skipping this part of travel planning. The chance that you may end up needing medical treatment during your trip may be slim, but can you really afford to risk having to pay for that treatment out of your own funds?

You need to focus not on whether to buy insurance, but rather which policy is right for you. Find a reputable insurance company that has been working with overseas travelers for years. They should offer global coverage that is valid in every country as well as policies designed for specific continents or countries for those who know they won’t be globe trotting . There should be special plans available for students, multi-country travel, for senior citizens and for families.

There are common features to all plans, such as emergency treatment for injuries and illness as well as provisions for transfers to other institutions or even evacuation to another country. Those on extended trips should look for plans that include wellness checkups, mental health treatment, and even maternity coverage, if needed. In fact, long term plans should be no different than what you’d expect to buy to cover you at home, because your risk is going to be the same there as here.

Go Green

December 13th, 2010 by Caroline

To some “going green” is just a trend that over time will run fade away. However before you make that assumption, it is important to realize that the earth’s population has never been greater, there have never been so many emission producing machines, vehicles, etc., and there has never been such a strain on our natural resources. Because of all of this, there has never been a better time to start caring about our planet and taking the necessary steps to preserve it.

Two of the biggest ways to have a positive impact on our planet are by reducing emissions and conserving our resources.

Electric and fuel-efficient cars are both a great way to reduce emissions and conserve resources . And recent years have made them both more affordable to own and maintain.

Utilizing solar energy is also great for the environment, especially in areas that get a lot of sun like California. Solar installers in California can place panels on the roof of your home or business so that blazing hot summer sun can do more than just cook the people living there. Solar panels are significantly more affordable than electricity and they utilize one of the few limitless natural resources.

While each of these items is significant investment, there are simple things that we can do around the house every day to lessen the impact we have on the environment, from turning the lights off to recycling . We just have to be willing to look for the opportunities.
