Great Weekend for Car Racing

July 29th, 2011 by Caroline

There are high expectations for this weekend with the NASCAR Brickyard 400 and the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix. The Brickyard 400 will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana and is one of the most popular and prestigious races of the season. The Hungarian Grand Prix will be held in Budapest and is expected to be a great race.

The Stewart-Hass Racing team comprised of Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart is coming into this race with a great amount of momentum following their win in New Hampshire. Both are Indiana natives so this will be their home track. The team is looking for a win and has described this weekend as “the most intense weekend of [the] year, next to the Daytona 500.”

Another racer looking to steal the title is Juan Pablo Montoya. He is coming into this race with a new crew chief and is looking to become the first driver to win both the Brickyard 400 and the Indianapolis 500. He was the winner of the Indy 500 in 2000. Montoya has been a leader at previous Brickyard races and was very close to winning the previous two races but small mistakes, including a call for a four hankook tire replacement which put him in 32nd place.

Car racing seems to be the world’s sport, while different countries have their own ways of racing and own leagues, it seems to be a universally enjoyed sport. People seem to come together to watch the races and there is always an element of surprise when it comes to who will win. Another aspect of racing that people enjoy is the cars themselves, the designs as well as the wheels and tires. It is always exciting to see a car with an American racing 20” Lincoln navigator tire wheel package. So as the saying goes,it’s anyone’s race.

With such major races coming up, this weekend is sure to be an exciting one for racing fans as well as racing history. It will be exciting to see who takes home the title and to see how well each team performs at such a prestigious race.

Pontiac Sunfire and Repairs

September 1st, 2010 by Caroline

What do owners do if their car has been discontinued? One thing owners can do is to keep the repair manuals handy, because as the car continues to age, parts will fail, and it may be important to be able to review the types of parts needed in advance.

Take, for instance, the Pontiac Sunfire. Fifteen years ago, in 1995, the Sunfire replaced the Sunbird as Pontiac’s compact car. The Sunfire could be purchased in a variety of forms — a sedan, a coupe, or a convertible. These cars were constructed in Lordstown, Ohio (up until 2004) and in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico . The convertible models were constructed in Lansing, Michigan . Sunfire production ended, though, on June 22 in 2005.

Priced at 11,500 U.S. dollars, the Sunfire sold over 36,000 vehicles in the U.S., while 33,724 cars were sold in Canada in 2004. With over 69,000 Sunfire owners on the road, and with the discontinuation of the model, it’s become more important for these owners to check out a Pontiac Sunfire Repair Manual .

As 2010 closes, even more Pontiac vehicles will be retired as GM intends to phase out the brand by the close of the year, choosing to emphasize four other core brands in North America: Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC. With discontinued vehicles, parts for repairs will become even harder to find, although a look at the Pontiac repair manual should help these owners find the required part.

Auto Repairs Are Cheaper When You Know What is Under the Hood

July 25th, 2010 by Caroline

The honest truth is that the majority of America adults who own a car, whether it is a GMC or a Plymouth or something else have never even looked in their GMC manual , much less under the engine hood. However, knowing the parts that you can find in there is very important to making sure that you don’t get ripped off when you take it into a repair shop . While this shouldn’t happen all that often, it will probably happen more than you would like.

The easiest way to find out what is inside the engine is to read through a Plymouth repair manual . They are usually written fairly well and most people will be able to understand what it is saying. If you don’t, the pictures often help if you try to match them up with the insides of your own car. Before opening up the hood, make sure that you are wearing something that you are ok with getting dirty because those engines often have oil and other greases to keep all the party moving smoothly. Even if you don’t think that there is anything wrong under the hood now, you will want to be careful when poking around under there because the greases will get on you as you take parts out and find out what is underneath.

Know When it is Time to Get the Oil Changed

November 17th, 2009 by Caroline

According to a Chevy Blazer, Ford Taurus, or Chevrolet Cavalier repair manual, the manufacturers of today’s cars recommend that you have the oil changed in your vehicle every seventy five hundred miles, or every year, which ever comes first.  However, this recommendation is based on the most perfect, the most optimal of driving conditions.   Do you drive just a short bit each week, going on many trips that are less than ten miles a piece?  Do you live in an extremely cold climate, or do you drive long distances in extremely hot, dry and dusty climates?  Do you live in the city, and are stuck frequently in stop and go traffic?

If you answered yes to any of the these questions, you must pay closer attention to when you get your oil changed. It now becomes recommended that you change your car’s oil every three thousand miles or each six months, which ever comes first.  And really, regardless of the manufacturers recommendations, it is best to follow this schedule no matter what kind of driving you do on a regular basis.  Only the newest of car engines can get by on the yearly oil change, but once an engine starts to accumulate mileage, more residue from the fuel left unburned in the crankcase starts to circulate in the oil and dilute it.  The oil begins to break down quicker.

With my Ford Bronco, repair manual recommendations regarding this added years to the life of my car’s engine.  When you go without the regular oil changes, the engine will break down, gas mileage will go down and emissions will go up.  This goes too for your oil filter.  In newer cars the size of the filters has been greatly reduced over the years, so while your car may burn less oil and require less frequent changes, the filters must be checked periodically as they become dirty at a quicker rate.  The regular oil change is seriously the simplest and the best way to extend the life of your vehicle.

Man Steals Rims and Tires at the CIA

May 19th, 2009 by Caroline

A New Jersey man is due in town court for allegedly stealing tires and rims from a car parked at the Culinary Institute of America. Jasel Ventura, 19, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

About 5 a.m. Hyde Park police responded to a report of criminal mischief at the CIA. Police said security at the CIA, while patrolling, discovered a vehicle had been raised up on blocks and had its wheel and tire package removed. Security tapes were checked and police were able to identify Ventura, locate him and take him into custody without incident.

Over the last couple of years the rate of tire and rim theft has increased dramatically. “Look at NASCAR. They do it in eight seconds,” said Det. Sgt. Lucy Graziano of the Nassau County police crimes-against-property squad, explaining that a coordinated team of thieves can remove four wheels pretty quickly.

Police say targeted cars have included Hondas, Infinitis and Nissans. The stolen wheels, which can cost $5,000 or more to replace, aren’t particularly high-end or specialized. The authorities have taken note of the brazenness of the thieves, who usually work overnight, leaving owners to wake up to find their vehicles propped up on concrete blocks.

Good Excuse to Revamp the SUV

August 18th, 2008 by Caroline

Construction has taken its toll and I’ll be glad when it’s over. Neighbors are changing their backyard into a pool and spa area. They’re very excited about their dream project, but for me and the rest of the neighbors, it has been a nightmare. The construction crew leaves all kinds of debris – nails, dirt, and stone – all over the narrow roads in the area. Not to mention the terrible shaking and rumbling that the Caterpillar makes each day. But the last straw was when I discovered a flat on my hybrid Yukon. Not only was the tire gone, but the rim was damaged, as well. Naturally, when one of the tires blows out, it is recommended to get them all replaced.

The hunt began for new rims and tires a few days ago, and I’ve found a few good deals. During the search, I really got caught up in all of the options available for SUV wheels. When it came to custom jobs, I had seen lots of tricked out sports cars and trucks, but other than the Escalade I didn’t really think customization was an option for SUVs. As a good friend of mine likes to say, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Now I’m trying to take a positive look at the situation. These circumstances have given me an opportunity to upgrade the vehicle and have fun with it. Right now, I’m favoring dub tires and the intricate designs of some of their chrome plated rims. Of course I’ll wait until the construction is done to make the changes. It’s something to look forward to.

Discount Tires and Great Advice

July 31st, 2008 by Caroline

Choosing the right tires for your car shouldn’t be difficult. And it’s not when you go to the right place. I wanted discount tires and I wanted the right ones for my car. I never had to shop for tires before so I didn’t know what I was doing at first, then I learned how to choose the right tires.

I was torn between Toyo tires and Nitto tires. I finally decided and made the purchase. PPT helped me select the right tires and nothing else. I didn’t feel like they were trying to sell me a bunch of stuff that I didn’t need.

I was so impressed that I went back when I was ready to buy rims for my car. Now I have shiny chrome rims and I stayed within my budget.

Wheel and Tire Packages for All

July 30th, 2008 by Caroline

I just got a set of Nitto tires for my car and I am very excited to put them on. I’ve been needing new tires for a while but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I found a site online with wheel and tire packages that were discounted.

Performance Plus Tire had just what I was looking for and everything they had was reasonably priced. If I would have known how simple it was going to be, I would not have waited so long. One of my friends told me he couldn’t believe I didn’t have a blowout.

Next time I need to fix something on my car, I’m not going to wait. I’m going to drive straight to PPT and I know they will have exactly what I want. And it won’t cost me a fortune.

Do It Yourself Chrome Rims Helps Owners Feel Great

June 19th, 2008 by Caroline

People love their cars, trucks and SUVs. They even love them when it’s costly to fill up. In fact, most Americans would say that they love their automobiles so much they prefer to work on them themselves, rather than paying a mechanic to do it for them.

And these same people love fixing up their cars too. By ordering chrome rims or even a custom wheel or chrome wheel one at a time, they can increase the value of their cars overnight. The ROI, or return on investment, is considerable. And this is not even mentioning the joy they get from doing the work themselves.

Since gasoline prices are so high and they only seem to be getting higher, people really want to stretch their dollars as far as possible. By increasing the value of their cars, trucks and SUVs, people feel better and they feel great doing it themselves.

Hot Rod Wheels and Accessories Available to All

June 19th, 2008 by Caroline

Working on cars is not just something for mechanics. In fact, there are thousands, possibly millions, of car enthusiasts around. And because of the growing interest in people fixing their own cars and restoring older ones, everything a person could ever need is available to them.

This holds true for people that work on hot rods. Of the many products available, hot rod wheels, hot rod wheel polishing accessories and anything else relating to the oh-so-important tire parts is available with just a few clicks from your mouse.

In addition to that, you can order anything from a set to a single hotrod hubcap or a set of tires to a single hot rod tire. You can order mufflers, books with instructions and even car wax from companies that specialize in hot rods. And the things that these companies sell usually include things you will need for your own maintenance and repairs.

20 Inch Rims Make Classic Corvette Look Better

May 14th, 2008 by Caroline

I have been learning how to fix up old cars. I started getting into this hobby because I’ve always enjoyed classic cars and classic car shows. I find that I’m a lot happier when I have a hobby and I feel more physically fit.

I really enjoy looking at the custom truck wheels that are on display that the shows. People spend a lot of time beautifying their automobiles. My son enjoys looking at the big rims because some of them seem bigger than him. He’s only three so I bet they look really cool in his imagination.

After I got into this hobby and I started to fix up my classic Corvette, I got inspired to put on 20 inch rims. That made it look a lot better, especially considering that its still waiting to be painted. I’ll take them off when I paint it but it looks better to me with them on, for right now.

20 Inch Wheels Made Car Look Sleek

April 21st, 2008 by Caroline

I went to a classic car show this past weekend and I saw many gorgeous automobiles. There was a perfect ’66 Mustang with cherry-red paint and black interior. It had Cooper tire and chrome rims. It was perfect.

I also saw a beautiful corvette. She was silver with black-tinted windows. The custom rim and tires were superb and those 20 inch wheels made her look so sleek.

I love car shows. I make it a point to go to as many as possible because I enjoy them so much. I am slowly fixing my car up and I’ll enter in one of these soon. It will be great to have people drooling over my car the way I drool over their cars.
