Know When it is Time to Get the Oil Changed

According to a Chevy Blazer, Ford Taurus, or Chevrolet Cavalier repair manual, the manufacturers of today’s cars recommend that you have the oil changed in your vehicle every seventy five hundred miles, or every year, which ever comes first. However, this recommendation is based on the most perfect, the most optimal of driving conditions. Do you drive just a short bit each week, going on many trips that are less than ten miles a piece? Do you live in an extremely cold climate, or do you drive long distances in extremely hot, dry and dusty climates? Do you live in the city, and are stuck frequently in stop and go traffic?

If you answered yes to any of the these questions, you must pay closer attention to when you get your oil changed. It now becomes recommended that you change your car’s oil every three thousand miles or each six months, which ever comes first. And really, regardless of the manufacturers recommendations, it is best to follow this schedule no matter what kind of driving you do on a regular basis. Only the newest of car engines can get by on the yearly oil change, but once an engine starts to accumulate mileage, more residue from the fuel left unburned in the crankcase starts to circulate in the oil and dilute it. The oil begins to break down quicker.

With my Ford Bronco, repair manual recommendations regarding this added years to the life of my car’s engine. When you go without the regular oil changes, the engine will break down, gas mileage will go down and emissions will go up. This goes too for your oil filter. In newer cars the size of the filters has been greatly reduced over the years, so while your car may burn less oil and require less frequent changes, the filters must be checked periodically as they become dirty at a quicker rate. The regular oil change is seriously the simplest and the best way to extend the life of your vehicle.

Man Steals Rims and Tires at the CIA

A New Jersey man is due in town court for allegedly stealing tires and rims from a car parked at the Culinary Institute of America. Jasel Ventura, 19, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

About 5 a.m. Hyde Park police responded to a report of criminal mischief at the CIA. Police said security at the CIA, while patrolling, discovered a vehicle had been raised up on blocks and had its wheel and tire package removed. Security tapes were checked and police were able to identify Ventura, locate him and take him into custody without incident.

Over the last couple of years the rate of tire and rim theft has increased dramatically. “Look at NASCAR. They do it in eight seconds,” said Det. Sgt. Lucy Graziano of the Nassau County police crimes-against-property squad, explaining that a coordinated team of thieves can remove four wheels pretty quickly.

Police say targeted cars have included Hondas, Infinitis and Nissans. The stolen wheels, which can cost $5,000 or more to replace, aren’t particularly high-end or specialized. The authorities have taken note of the brazenness of the thieves, who usually work overnight, leaving owners to wake up to find their vehicles propped up on concrete blocks.

Good Excuse to Revamp the SUV

Construction has taken its toll and I’ll be glad when it’s over. Neighbors are changing their backyard into a pool and spa area. They’re very excited about their dream project, but for me and the rest of the neighbors, it has been a nightmare. The construction crew leaves all kinds of debris – nails, dirt, and stone – all over the narrow roads in the area. Not to mention the terrible shaking and rumbling that the Caterpillar makes each day. But the last straw was when I discovered a flat on my hybrid Yukon. Not only was the tire gone, but the rim was damaged, as well. Naturally, when one of the tires blows out, it is recommended to get them all replaced.

The hunt began for new rims and tires a few days ago, and I’ve found a few good deals. During the search, I really got caught up in all of the options available for SUV wheels. When it came to custom jobs, I had seen lots of tricked out sports cars and trucks, but other than the Escalade I didn’t really think customization was an option for SUVs. As a good friend of mine likes to say, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Now I’m trying to take a positive look at the situation. These circumstances have given me an opportunity to upgrade the vehicle and have fun with it. Right now, I’m favoring dub tires and the intricate designs of some of their chrome plated rims. Of course I’ll wait until the construction is done to make the changes. It’s something to look forward to.

Choosing the right tires for your car shouldn’t be difficult. And it’s not when you go to the right place. I wanted discount tires and I wanted the right ones for my car. I never had to shop for tires before so I didn’t know what I was doing at first, then I learned how to choose the right tires.

I was torn between Toyo tires and Nitto tires. I finally decided and made the purchase. PPT helped me select the right tires and nothing else. I didn’t feel like they were trying to sell me a bunch of stuff that I didn’t need.

I was so impressed that I went back when I was ready to buy rims for my car. Now I have shiny chrome rims and I stayed within my budget.

I just got a set of Nitto tires for my car and I am very excited to put them on. I’ve been needing new tires for a while but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I found a site online with wheel and tire packages that were discounted.

Performance Plus Tire had just what I was looking for and everything they had was reasonably priced. If I would have known how simple it was going to be, I would not have waited so long. One of my friends told me he couldn’t believe I didn’t have a blowout.

20 Inch Rims Make Classic Corvette Look Better

I have been learning how to fix up old cars. I started getting into this hobby because I’ve always enjoyed classic cars and classic car shows. I find that I’m a lot happier when I have a hobby and I feel more physically fit.

I really enjoy looking at the custom truck wheels that are on display that the shows. People spend a lot of time beautifying their automobiles. My son enjoys looking at the big rims because some of them seem bigger than him. He’s only three so I bet they look really cool in his imagination.

After I got into this hobby and I started to fix up my classic Corvette, I got inspired to put on 20 inch rims. That made it look a lot better, especially considering that its still waiting to be painted. I’ll take them off when I paint it but it looks better to me with them on, for right now.
