One of the most important things that individuals can do for themselves during this time of global recession, is to take responsibility.  That is hard to do sometimes when being laid seems out of one’s control, or when dealing with the thought of one’s own home foreclosure. Denton, Texas residents as well as those living in cities such as Manhattan or Los Angeles, are feeling it, and some, perhaps many people are feeling in the way that if they do have a paycheck coming in, that they are living the stressful life of “paycheck to paycheck“. 

During times such as this, it be hard to switch jobs and most definitely to get laid off as one has no safety net.  Many active steps can be taken to reduce monthly spending, such as living without cable television or moving into less expensive living quarters.  What becomes emotionally taxing is the fact that many people are working harder than ever before, and are still not making enough money for the essentials.  If a car breaks down or a dog needs to go to the veterinary clinic, this throws one right into the area of disaster. 

People need to change their mindset during times like these, which will not only serve to reduce stress and the dangerous health risks of that whole cycle, but they need to realize that they do have the power to change their situation if they go at it one hundred percent.  Many things do affect one’s life, past experiences, lack of proper education, or the random disasters of the previously stated car breaking down.  However by moving on and taking charge one really can change their situations.  This is not about blame or guilt it is about finding the ability to respond, and to not just blame the lost job or the recession or the politicians.  By cutting spending habits and trimming the monthly expenses, one can begin to gain stability and confidence in their situations and in their lives.
